DESCRIPTION

A Thermosiphon system is a self-regulating seal support system designed to provide cooling and lubrication to mechanical seals—especially double mechanical seals—through a natural circulation loop. It maintains the necessary barrier or buffer fluid around the seal to ensure longer life, leakage control, and process safety.

Working Principles Description

The system uses natural convection: the fluid is heated in the seal chamber and rises to the thermosiphon tank, where it is cooled and returns by gravity. This continuous loop:

  • Cools the seal faces
  • Maintains pressure (barrier or buffer)
  • Flushes debris or heat from the seal zone
